Wyatt's Mural

Wyatt is my grandson.  Before he was born I and my friend Carole Robitaille covered one wall of his room with a fantasy mural of African and Asian animals in a never-never land of ambiguous space. The tiger is down in the right-hand bottom corner of the wall.

Dulse Gathering

Dulse is seaweed, rich in iodine and very salty.  It can be used as a condiment or a health food and is  harvested widely in the Maritimes.  This scene was painted in Grand Manan, a large island in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick.

Closing In

This image is based on an autumn woods, where the darkness of autumn is closing in on summer's brightness.  Falling leaves are suggested.

Bold Bouquet

This was my birthday arrangement one year.  I especially like the Bird of Paradise lily.  I like flowers that dare to make a statement.

Elmsthorpe Farm

In Grey County, just at the base of the Bruce Peninsula, this apple farm snuggles in among the foothills of the Blue Mountains.  It is lovely country, full of apples and grazing cattle. I loved painting this picture, which, like most of my landscapes, was done en plein air.

Along the Alouette

The valley of the Alouette lies in British Columbia and leads down into the Fraser River, Here are the magnificent red pines (though these are not the fabled ancient ones of the coast), which catch the light, while their lower branches are bathed in purple shadows. A gorgeous spot for anyone to roam in, but especially for an artist.

Midsummer

This painting was done on a beautiful August day on a highway in southern Ontario. The whole scene seemed to sigh with the satisfaction of fruition--the hay just cut or waiting to be cut.
